Problem

A Forum reader recently asked:

"I have a small prospective client who has one public IP address. Can Access Manager be set up with one public IP address? Here's what they have:

Internet <->
|-(One Public IP Router) <->
|--(Natted IP Public side of LAG w/SSLVPN)
|---(Natted IP On Private IP Side of LAG)"

And here's the response from Soren Kallstrom ...

Solution

I have a setup where all communication with Access Manager is through one IP address. I do have to use a lot of PAT (Port Address Translation), though.

Here's what I have:

  • Port 8080/8443 points to IDS
  • Port 7777 points to SSLVPN listening address
  • Port 80/443 points to the Access Gateway

Of course, you have to consider only having one IP address when designing the accelerators. You cannot, for example, have more than one accelerator with SSL listening on a given IP address.
