&lt;p&gt;Novell® partner BitRock provides tools and services for packaging, deploying and updating software.  Using SUSE® Studio, BitRock has been able to quickly create virtual appliance images for its software customers faster and easier than ever before.  In fact, BitRock was able to &lt;a class=&quot;glossary-term&quot; href=&quot;/communities/glossary/term/2068&quot;&gt;&lt;acronym title=&quot;The point of contact between two hardware devices or two software elements. A hardware port can be the physical connection point between a printer cable and the computer.A software port, represented by a memory address, can be the logical contact point between a LAN driver and the protocol bound to it, or the point of access to a service on a TCP/IP host computer.&quot;&gt;port&lt;/acronym&gt;&lt;/a&gt; over 20 products in under a week to a virtual appliance format - dramatically reducing the time it takes to develop solutions for their customers.   &lt;/p&gt;

 <title>What does interoperability mean for you?</title>
 <link>http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9299/what-does-interoperability-mean-you</link>
 <description> &lt;p&gt;You may have, and should have, noticed about Novell using the term &lt;a class=&quot;glossary-term&quot; href=&quot;/communities/glossary/term/1556&quot;&gt;&lt;acronym title=&quot;The ability of different types of computers, networks, operating systems, and applications to work together effectively, without prior communication, in order to exchange information in a useful and meaningful manner.&quot;&gt;interoperability&lt;/acronym&gt;&lt;/a&gt; a few times.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Wikipedia refers to interoperability as „the ability of diverse systems and organizations to work together„ This became one of Novell&#039;s key strategies in the past.&lt;br /&gt;
And many of Novell&#039;s applications already fit into this strategy. While some of them are already following this strategy path, others are still being developed and extended that way.&lt;br /&gt;
One of the products which has taken a great step forward in terms of interoperability is the Open Enterpriser Server. Especially Service Pack 1 of the Open Enterprise Server bought us a new technology called Domain Services for Windows.&lt;br /&gt;
Like almost no other feature this demonstrates how interoperability can look like.&lt;br /&gt;
With the Domain Services we provide &lt;a class=&quot;glossary-term&quot; href=&quot;/communities/glossary/term/2632&quot;&gt;&lt;acronym title=&quot;An advanced, hierarchical directory service that is an integral part of the Microsoft Windows 2000 architecture. It is LDAP-compliant and built on the Internet.&quot;&gt;Active Directory&lt;/acronym&gt;&lt;/a&gt; Services in an Linux environment, Windows environment or even in a mixed environment. We allow seamless authentication for desktops, applications and services.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;For more information about Domain Services for Windows check this link:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/products/openenterpriseserver/domain_services.html&quot; title=&quot;http://www.novell.com/products/openenterpriseserver/domain_services.html&quot;&gt;http://www.novell.com/products/openenterpriseserve...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;While many customers looked at this cool piece of technology, they quickly came up with use cases for it.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;One of these often requested use cases was to leverage Domain Services with Citrix XenDesktop, that only supported Active Directory for authentication.&lt;br /&gt;
But recently Citrix and Novell worked together to provide our customers the support they have asked for.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Citrix posted their support statement here:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX123281&quot; title=&quot;http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX123281&quot;&gt;http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX123281&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Novell does not formally list supported applications that leverage Open Enterprise Features, but in fact we do support them. Citrix solutions like XenDesktop is one of them.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;However to properly setup XenDesktop with Domain Services you need some extra steps when installing XenDesktop or reconfigure the services on the Windows side.&lt;br /&gt;
One of the Citrix System Engineers created a simple nifty utility to help Administrators with that configuration which can also be done using just the Windows server registry.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;/communities/files/u6430/NITGUI.jpg&quot; width=&quot;414&quot; height=&quot;321&quot; alt=&quot;NITGUI.jpg&quot; /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You can find the tool and some additional setup informations here:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://community.citrix.com/display/ocb/2009/11/07/XenDesktop+Support+for+Novell&quot; title=&quot;http://community.citrix.com/display/ocb/2009/11/07/XenDesktop+Support+for+Novell&quot;&gt;http://community.citrix.com/display/ocb/2009/11/07...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;While this is a first step, we are currently engaging other major 3rd party vendors for support statements and certifications of Domain Services.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If you wish to see specific support for other solutions then let us know. We might not be able to chase down all of them at once but we would like to know which ones are your preferred vendors.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description> &lt;p&gt;I received an email this last week from GroupLink about a promotion they are doing around their products and BrainShare 2010.   I thought it would be a great idea to collect all of these promotions and post them together in a single place.   A blog seems like the perfect medium!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;I only have this one promotion right now, but I am sure there are several others that will be made available.   Please send them to me or post in this blog&#039;s comment section so that everyone can see what is available.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

There are many new changes to BrainShare this year and a few throwbacks from previous conferences.   I am very excited about seeing all of our customers, partners and friends.   We want everyone who wants to come to be there.     I hope that a few of these types of promotions/contests/giveaways/discounts will enable all of you to be there.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Using jQuery in Identity Manager Roles Based Provisioning Module Workflow Forms</title>
 <link>http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9210/using-jquery-identity-manager-roles-based-provisioning-module-workflow-forms</link>
 <description> &lt;p&gt;Please see the attached UseJQuery.pdf document and sample Provisioning Request Definition.  It will be necessary to rename JQuery-CoolSolution.xml.txt to JQuery-CoolSolution.xml before it can be loaded into the Designer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Using jQuery in Identity Manager Roles Based Provisioning Module Workflow Forms&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;by Joe Craddock, Bess Siegal, Steve Williams&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Introduction&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;For increased styling, layout, and functionality flexibility, jQuery can be employed to greatly enhance your workflow request and approval forms. Two examples are outlined in this document. A Simple Example shows and hides blocks of fields using CSS and injects labels to the right of some fields. An Advanced Example creates tabs, places controls / fields on the tabs, and inserts a Google Map for obtaining latitude and longitude coordinates.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;A. Simple Example&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;clear-block&quot;&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;thumbnail&quot;&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-1.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-1_0.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Figure A1&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-1.jpg&quot;&gt;Click to view&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This is a sample workflow request form, comprised of two (2) sections, &quot;Personal Information&quot; and &quot;Work Information.&quot; A true/false Radio Button control toggles the appearance of the &quot;Work Information&quot; section. It addresses some customers&#039; specific needs, namely:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ol class=&quot;spread&quot;&gt;
&lt;li&gt; Include an image logo in the first column, such as a PeopleSoft icon when the workflow request is for access to PeopleSoft. In this example the Novell logo appears (does not require jQuery).&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt; Include two (2) labels for a single control, such as English to the left of the field and Hebrew to the right of the field. In this example German labels are included for certain fields.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt; Hide and show blocks of fields using CSS.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Fields&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The fields of the workflow form are shown in Figure A2.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;clear-block&quot;&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;thumbnail&quot;&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-2.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-2_0.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Figure A2&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-2.jpg&quot;&gt;Click to view&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Custom CSS class names have been applied to each control and label in the following manner:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;table&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;b&gt;Radio Button elements&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;b&gt;CSS class names&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;Field CCS class name(s) &lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;cust-radio&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;Label CCS class name(s) &lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;cust-radio-label&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;b&gt;Personal Information elements&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;b&gt;CSS class names&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;Field CCS class name(s) &lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;cust-personal cust-field&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;Label CCS class name(s) &lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;cust-label&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;b&gt;Work Information elements &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;&lt;b&gt;CSS class names&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;Field CCS class name(s) &lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;cust-job cust-field&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;tr&gt;
&lt;td&gt;Label CCS class name(s) &lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td&gt;cust-label&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;/table&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The following lines of CSS can be added to theme.css of the custom theme, or you may add them as internal CSS using the &quot;counter-wrapping&quot; technique outlined in the Advanced Example (see Inclusion of jQuery UI CSS Framework).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;pre&gt;.cust-personal{
}
.cust-field{
font-size: 10px;
}
.cust-label{
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 12px;
white-space: nowrap;
}
.cust-deLabel {

}

white-space: nowrap;
background-image: url(images/N_logo_22.png);
background-position: 0px 0px;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
height:30px;
padding-left:20px;

}
.cust-radio {
font-size: 12px;
}
.cust-radio input {

&lt;b&gt;to:&lt;/b&gt; background-image: url(resource/themes/Neptune/images/N_logo_22.png);&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Scripts&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;All the jQuery injection is done from the Scripts tab of the Forms tab (see Figure A3) in Designer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;clear-block&quot;&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;thumbnail&quot;&gt;

&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Logo&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Novell logo appears next to the radio button label by specifying the cust-radio-label class name as described above.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;jQuery&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;External script with Id of &quot;Script&quot; is the google library to load jQuery. It&#039;s value is:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js&quot;&gt;http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Hide/Show &quot;Work Information&quot;&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Inline Script&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Inline script with Id of &quot;Script1&quot; is the simple jQuery to hide or show fields and labels that have the &quot;cust-job&quot; class or the &quot;headingcust&quot; ID. &quot;Script1&quot; is below:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;pre&gt;//Show/Hide &#039;job&#039; related fields
function showWork(show)
{
$(&quot;.cust-job&quot;).each(function() {
var td = $(this).parent();
var tr = td.parent();
if (show) {
tr.show();
$(&quot;#_headingjob&quot;).show();
} else {
tr.hide();
$(&quot;#_headingjob&quot;).hide();
}
});
//show/hide tr holding field with class-name &quot;cust-job&quot;
//since whole tr gets hidden with display:none anyway
//title cannot have custom class, so get it by ID
}

&lt;/pre&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;onchange event&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The onchange event of the radio button has the following code:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;pre&gt;if (field.getValue() == &#039;true&#039;)
{
showWork(true);
}
else if (field.getValue() == &#039;false&#039;)
{
showWork(false);
}

&lt;/pre&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Pre-Activity&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Pre-Activity of the Start activity on the Data Item Mapping tab has &quot;false&quot; specified for the Source Expression of radio.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Add Labels to the Right&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Inline script with Id of &quot;Script2&quot; is script using jQuery to insert the German labels to the right of some fields by adding an extra table column where needed. &quot;Script2&quot; is below:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;pre&gt;// insert right labels
$(document).ready(function(){
var fld = [&quot;FirstName&quot;, &quot;LastName&quot;, &quot;HomePhone&quot;, &quot;JobTitle&quot;, &quot;WorkPhone&quot;];
var de = [&quot;Vorname&quot;, &quot;Zuname&quot;, &quot;Haus Telefonnummer&quot;, &quot;Job-Titel&quot;, &quot;Arbeit
Telefonnummer&quot;];
for (var i = 0; i &amp;lt; 5; i++) {
var td = $(&quot;#_&quot; + fld[i]).parent();
var tr = td.parent();
tr.append(&quot;&amp;lt;td class=\&quot;cust-deLabel\&quot;&amp;gt;&quot; + de[i] + &quot;&amp;lt;/td&amp;gt;&quot;);
}
});

&lt;/pre&gt;&lt;h3&gt;B. Advanced Example – Tabs and Google Map&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;clear-block&quot;&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;thumbnail&quot;&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-4.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-4_0.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;

&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Building on the Simple Example, the Advanced Example adds a Google Map to determine latitude and longitude coordinates. In addition, tabs are added putting the Home and Work Information of the Simple Example into the last tab.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Fields&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Additional fields need to be inserted (see Figure B2). The naming convention of the tabs is used in the Scripts section.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;clear-block&quot;&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;thumbnail&quot;&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-5.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u10635/9210-5_0.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;

&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Scripts&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;All the jQuery injection is done from the Scripts tab of the Forms tab (see Figure B3) in Designer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;clear-block&quot;&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;thumbnail&quot;&gt;

&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Inclusion of jQuery UI CSS Framework&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The value of script with Id of &quot;Script3&quot; above is used to inject jQuery UI CSS framework into the workflow form. This will allow tabs to be created. It is slightly modified so that input fields will remain consistent with the rest of the application with font-size: 11px instead of 1em. &quot;Script3&quot; is shown below:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;pre&gt;&amp;lt;/script&amp;gt;

This is because the form renderer is expecting valid ECMA Script, so it wraps all its contents within &amp;lt;script&amp;gt; and &amp;lt;/script&amp;gt; tags. To get around that, the internal CSS is &quot;counter-wrapped&quot; to begin with &amp;lt;/script&amp;gt; and end with &amp;lt;script&amp;gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

function placeMarker(location) {
var clickedLocation = new google.maps.LatLng(location);
if (marker == null ) {
marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: location,
map: map});
marker.set_draggable({flag:true});
} else {
marker.set_position(location);
}
try {
// get lat/long from the click
var lat = Math.round(location.lat()*Math.pow(10,4))/Math.pow(10,4);
var lng = Math.round(location.lng()*Math.pow(10,4))/Math.pow(10,4);
// set lat/long on form
$(&#039;#_locationLatitude&#039;).val(lat);
$(&#039;#_locationLongitude&#039;).val(lng);
} catch (ex) {
alert(ex);
}
}
// functions have been defined, call them
addLatLongHelper();
});

&lt;/pre&gt;&lt;h3&gt;Conclusion&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;With the ability to import external JavaScript libraries, you can utilize jQuery to manipulate your form&#039;s look and layout. In addition, you can also capitalize on other libraries such as Google&#039;s Map API.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Gradenko, ActiveSync, GroupWise, Teaming and a Webinar!</title>
 <link>http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9221/gradenko-activesync-groupwise-teaming-and-webinar</link>
 <description> &lt;p&gt;The engineering team is working on several product releases over the next several months.  It is important that we keep you informed about our progress and what is coming.   It also allows you to participate in the many activities surrounding a product release.   Those activities include product requirements, design reviews, BETAs, Lighthouse programs and final shipments.   So here goes: &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt; Gradenko  (DataSync): &lt;/b&gt;   &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Gradenko is currently in authorized BETA.   We have had several beta calls including beta calls for the SDK.   Gradenko includes the following components:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;-  Sync Engine&lt;br /&gt;
-  GroupWise Connector&lt;br /&gt;
-  SDK&lt;br /&gt;
-  Salesforce.com Connector&lt;br /&gt;
-  SugarCRM Connector&lt;br /&gt;
-  Sharepoint Connector &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;BETA2 is scheduled for later this month.   Engineering is focused on installation, configuration and &lt;a class=&quot;glossary-term&quot; href=&quot;/communities/glossary/term/2282&quot;&gt;&lt;acronym title=&quot;The ability to expand a computing solution to support increasing numbers of users without impacting performance. In NetWare, it is the incremental increase in throughput, or work accomplished relative to processor 0, when additional processors are brought online.&quot;&gt;scalability&lt;/acronym&gt;&lt;/a&gt;.   We are listening to our beta sites and gathering input from our internal testing and superlab experiences.   Gradenko is the foundation for &lt;a class=&quot;glossary-term&quot; href=&quot;/communities/glossary/term/2704&quot;&gt;&lt;acronym title=&quot;In ZENworks Handheld Management, third-party synchronization software that transfers data between the ZENworks Handheld Management Desktop Sync and a Windows CE handheld device.&quot;&gt;ActiveSync&lt;/acronym&gt;&lt;/a&gt; and for all of our 3rd-party integrations.    Continue to watch this space for updates on our progress, schedule and final release.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;ActiveSync &lt;/b&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;First of all, I refer you to Alex Evans&#039; blog.   This was posted back in September and provides some excellent background on the feature set, architecture and what will be available in this first release.  &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9006/activesync-update&quot; title=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9006/activesync-update&quot;&gt;http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9006/active...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;ActiveSync BETA is scheduled for this month as well.   Great progress has been made within the team over the last several weeks.   The ActiveSync project is being head up by Jay Parker and they have implemented several aspects of the agile development model.   As part of this methodology, the team demonstrates to interested team members the progress made during each &#039;sprint&#039;.   On Thursday, October 22nd,  the team provided a demo of their Sprint 5 work.    Several iPhones and iTouches were handed out to the audience and we were given several tasks to complete.   Scheduling an appointments, sending an email, accepting an appointments, creating a contact, etc.   There were a few delays and a few hiccups as several in the audience were all using the same account, but overall, things went very well.   Engineering is now focused on performance, scalability, install, troubleshooting and documentation.   We are anxious to begin the beta process and work out the final details.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;GroupWise 7 and GroupWise 8&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;GroupWise 7.0.3 HP4 was released in September.    Feedback so far on this release has been very positive.   We do plan to release GroupWise 7.0.4 and that will be our final release of the GroupWise 7.0.x product line.    We expect to release that final version of 7.0.x in roughly 6 months or so.    GroupWise 8.0.1 was released in August.   We are currently evaluating and planning a Hot Patch for 8.0.1.   Our next support pack for GroupWise 8 will be 8.0.2.   This is currently scheduled about mid-year 2010.    &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The vast majority of the feedback on 8.0.1 has been very positive.   We continue to listen and evaluate the progress as our customers adopt and roll out this significant version of the product.   Support has brought 6-10 issues to our attention, which we have addressed and provided specific customers relief.   We plan to make these and other fixes available in a Hot Patch currently scheduled for December/January.    &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Cortez (Teaming 2.1)&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Cortez is the next major release of our award winning product Teaming.   As you may know, Teaming is a product that we are pushing as a &#039;rapid release&#039; product.   We plan to have new versions of this product available every 6-9 months.   Teaming 2.0 was released in July and Teaming 2.1 was currently scheduled for January.   It has a very specific and finite set of features and will be entering BETA also in the month of November.    To see the design documents, participate in the user interaction mock ups and provide your input, please visit the project on kablink.org.   A full list of the changes, features and roadmaps are all available as we engage our customers and partners in this project.     Cortez includes:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;-  Import and Export capability&lt;br /&gt;
-  Undelete&lt;br /&gt;
-  Data quotas&lt;br /&gt;
-  Mobility access&lt;br /&gt;
-  Landing Page Editor&lt;br /&gt;
-  Extension Administration&lt;br /&gt;
- Task/Calendar Improvements&lt;br /&gt;
-  maybe a couple more :)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;So watch for the BETA, check out kablink.org and download the 20 user Starter Pack.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Last note: &lt;/b&gt; There is a Webinar this Thursday, November 5th, &quot;GW8 &amp;amp; M+Archive: Your email collaboration solution&quot;   I will be presenting with Messaging Architects.   They will be presenting their stubbing solutions and I will be talking about GroupWise, Teaming, DataSync, etc.   Tune in!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Here are the details:  &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;GW8 &amp;amp; M+Archive: Your email collaboration solution - November 5, 2009 - 3:00PM EST&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Both leading IT publications and end users alike agree GroupWise 8 brings collaboration to the next level with next-generation web technology and the latest productivity-enhancing tools featuring a highly customizable email client, as well as improved calendaring, contact and task management. Besides the enriched email client, one of the most important improvements in the GroupWise 8 release is a new Stubbing &lt;a class=&quot;glossary-term&quot; href=&quot;/communities/glossary/term/2636&quot;&gt;&lt;acronym title=&quot;application programming interfaceA set of functions, procedures, values, or other defined interface standards that an application uses to request and carry out services performed by another program or by an operating system. A single API typically specifies how input should be requested and obtained, and how output should be done.&quot;&gt;API&lt;/acronym&gt;&lt;/a&gt; that enables tight integration of GroupWise with email retention solutions and gives end users transparent access to their archives. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;During this Webinar, Dean Lythgoe, Director, GroupWise Engineering, will discuss GroupWise 8 features, roadmap futures, mobility direction and the new DataSync technology. He will give a sneak peak at what is available today and what exciting new things are on the horizon in 2010. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Ranjit Sarai, Product Manager for M+Archive will then demonstrate the stubbing feature of M+Archive, currently the only product that offers this feature for GroupWise. After attending this Webinar, you will know how GroupWise with M+Archive will help you achieve an enterprise-class secure and compliant collaboration environment while helping you reduce overall cost, increase system performance and ensure a superior end-user experience.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;BONUS: &lt;/b&gt;Registrants will receive a complimentary white paper written by Novell and Messaging Architects, which will give you more in depth information about how GroupWise works with stubbing. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Date:&lt;/b&gt; Thursday, November 05, 2009&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Time:&lt;/b&gt; 3:00PM EST / 12:00 PM PST&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Speaker(s):&lt;/b&gt; Dean Lythgoe, Director, GroupWise and Teaming + Conferencing Engineering at Novell &amp;amp; Ranjit Sarai, Product Manager for M+Archive at Messaging Architects&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Register Now:&lt;/b&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://messagingarchitects.webex.com/messagingarchitects/onstage/g.php?d=570057076&amp;amp;t=a&quot; title=&quot;https://messagingarchitects.webex.com/messagingarchitects/onstage/g.php?d=570057076&amp;amp;t=a&quot;&gt;https://messagingarchitects.webex.com/messagingarc...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Virtualization... Hurry up already</title>
 <link>http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9219/virtualization-hurry-already</link>
 <description> &lt;p&gt;In the process of cleaning out my desk I&#039;ve discovered that I&#039;m a bit of a pack rat when it comes to industry whitepapers, and documents sent to me by various analysts.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Came across a rather interesting one from September 2007, from Gartner.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&quot;US Datacenters: The Calm Before the Storm&quot;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;According to Gartner, “by 2011, more than 70% of US enterprise data centers will face tangible disruptions related to floor space, energy consumption and cost”.  In fact they also predict that “infrastructure demands and increasing energy costs mean that IT costs could double by 2012”.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Quite alarming if you ask me.  Now that we&#039;re 2 years past when the article was first published, I wonder if IT is still tracking to hit those &quot;milestones&quot; or if the rapid adoption of virtualization has helped stave off this disaster.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;From what I&#039;ve seen in the front lines, enterprises are gobbling up virtualization at an incredible rate, even still, most statistics will show that less than 20% of today&#039;s x86 servers have been virtualized.  Transforming IT infrastructure is always a long process, but more than ever as we come closer and closer to those deadlines laid out by Gartner, I predict that this evolution from Physical to Virtual will accelerate.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Vendors like Novell, with our PlateSpin Workload Management suite of solutions, should be well positioned to help move things along.&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;div class=&quot;og_rss_groups&quot;&gt;&lt;ul class=&quot;links&quot;&gt;&lt;li class=&quot;first last og_links&quot;&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;/communities/partners/datacenter&quot; class=&quot;og_links&quot;&gt;Data Center&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

 <title>The Last Scan History Report</title>
 <link>http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9187/last-scan-history-report</link>
 <description> &lt;p&gt;The Last Scan History report presents a concise summary of when devices in your inventory were last scanned. The report is built around a best practice of weekly inventory scans, and breaks a week down day-by-day. Devices with more aged inventory are grouped at 30-day breaks.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;clear-block&quot;&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;thumbnail&quot;&gt;
&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u28279/Last-Scan.png&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u28279/Last-Scan_0.png&quot; alt=&quot;&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/files/u28279/Last-Scan.png&quot;&gt;Click to view&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The customer-favorite Last Scan History report in ZENworks Asset Management 7.5 included the ability to drill  into each device count to see the list of machines counted. Improvements to the ZENworks Reporting Server scheduled for the 10.3 release will provide for this feature of the report. Watch for an update to this report in the first calendar quarter of 2010.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Adding this Report to Your  ZENworks Reporting Server&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Interested in adding this report to your ZENworks Reporting Server? It&#039;s easy – simply download and unzip the report file attached to this description and follow the instructions in the ZRS Library article “Importing a ZRS report” article. &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9070/importing-zrs-report&quot; title=&quot;http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9070/importing-zrs-report&quot;&gt;http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9070/import...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Contacting the ZRS Custom Reports Librarian&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Open Horizons and GWAVACon Berlin</title>
 <link>http://www.novell.com/communities/node/9141/open-horizons-and-gwavacon-berlin</link>
 <description> &lt;p&gt;Alex Evans and I are currently in Oxford, England attending the Open Horizons Tour - UK.   We will be here until Friday, October 16th.   We will then travel to Berlin, Germany to participate with several more partners and Novell employees in the annual GWAVACon European Event.   &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;These events and conferences are unique in that we get to spend a lot of one on one time with many customers and partners.   We are always energized by the enthusiasm and positive vibe we get from all of the attendees.   We also always seem to meet new people or partners that we were not as familiar with.   Of course we usually see a lot of ISV partners at these events, but many times we meet some of our long standing reseller partners.   Today we spoke with Julie from Blueloop  (&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.blueloop.net&quot; title=&quot;www.blueloop.net&quot;&gt;www.blueloop.net&lt;/a&gt;).   They are a Silver Reseller Partner out of the UK and have been selling Novell software for years.   &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We have also had the opportunity to meet again with SkyCom, Messaging Architects, Redback Systems, GWAVA, Omni-TSand Salford Software.    All members of our active and growing partner ecosystem.   &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Today we spoke about our Collaboration strategy that includes GroupWise, Teaming, Conferencing and DataSync and then Alex spent quite a while talking about mobility and &lt;a class=&quot;glossary-term&quot; href=&quot;/communities/glossary/term/2704&quot;&gt;&lt;acronym title=&quot;In ZENworks Handheld Management, third-party synchronization software that transfers data between the ZENworks Handheld Management Desktop Sync and a Windows CE handheld device.&quot;&gt;ActiveSync&lt;/acronym&gt;&lt;/a&gt;.    Alex had to disappear for a little while this afternoon while he called into the very first DataSync (Gradenko) Authorized BETA call.   Of course, now that we are back in Alex&#039;s home turf - he pronounces it BEETA.       I thought I understood English????&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Some of the topics being covered today at the conference include:   Virtualization with XEN on SLES11 by Mark Robinson,  ZENworks Configuration Management by Ian Stimpson and Unified Communications for GroupWise with SkyPro by Horst Fuhrmann.     Sessions are being presented by Novell employees as well as partners like Altman Technologies, ENGL Ltd. and NDS8 Ltds.  &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Alex and I will participate in Question and Answer hour with all of the attendees and then tomorrow will begin the Open Horizons Summit with more sessions, hands-on labs and more opportunities to speak one on one with attendees.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If you have a chance to participate in an Open Horizons or GWAVACon event - I highly recommend it.  Not only will you get the technical information you may need, but you will also become a member of a community that is pushing for Novell and its products to succeed!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Dean&lt;/p&gt;
