Sizing the GWIA Server
Problem
A Forum reader recently asked:
"We have a small system of 345 users. I have no idea how much space the GWIA will use, or if it grows as messages come into it (currently we aren't using GroupWise for mail but will be in the next month). Right now, the size of my secondary domain is only 50MB. Will this change substantially when we start using GroupWise for email? I am looking for recommendations on sizing my cluster resource partition for a secondary domain that holds the GWIA and WebAccess."

Specific to the GWIA, everything is transient. Your log files will grow, but you limit their growth by total disk space usage and/or by date.
Otherwise, the GWIA will receive emails from the Internet, process them, and then ship them over to the MTA and then the PO. Likewise, outbound Internet email will come to the GWIA via the MTA, where the GWIA will process them
and ship them out over the Internet.
So for disk space, you need to have enough space to handle, I would guess, around 2.5 times the size of the largest email you can imagine receiving. If you're big enough to consider clustering, give it about 5GB, and you'll probably be fine. My GWIA server (secondary domain, GWIA, webaccess) only has a 19GB hard drive in it, and only 5 GB is used for everything (including the OS). It's been running for years.
