We have two updates planned in the next couple of months which will allow ZENworks 7 to be successfully deployed on Open Enterprise Server 2.

- ZENworks 7 Support Pack 1 Interim Release 1 Hot Patch 2

ZENworks 7 SP1 IR1 HP2 is targeted for January 2008 - and will be available for download from support.novell.com.

It will allow customers to deploy ZENworks 7 to an Open Enterprise Server.

The two step process is:

ZENworks 7 SP1 with Interim Release 1 --> Add Hot Patch 2

- ZENworks 7 Support Pack 1 Interim Release 1 Hot Patch 2 updated media

We plan to release an updated ISO for the integrated media for this release. This is targeted for February 2008.

This will allow customers to deploy ZENworks 7 to Open Enterprise Server 2 directly.

Great but one question

Oes 2 Linux or Netware or both?

It's always a little confusing to know which platform articles like this are referring to.

OES 2 and NetWare

Submitted by ezs on 14 January 2008 - 7:10pm.

OES 2 is really the SLES 10 SP 1 platform with the Open Enterprise Services capabilities layered on top.

For NetWare 6.5 support ZENworks 7 has been there since day 1.

what zenworks component on oes 2 ?

Esz,

it would be nice to know what zenworks component you talk about. Is it ZLM ?

Rainer

It's ZENworks 7 Desktop Management and ZENworks 7 Server Management Policy and Distribution Services.

Note that the ZENworks 7 Middle Tier is not supported on SLES 10 or OES 2.

Note that ZENworks 7 Server Management Management and Monitoring Services is not supported on SLES 10 or OES 2.

I thought SP1 was OES2 ready because of integration to edir 88?

Will the 64 bit version of OES2 be supported, or do we have to stick with 32 bit for that combination ?

Cheers

Yes - 64 bit SLES 10 is supported.

OES2

Submitted by atrofimov on 14 February 2008 - 3:57am.

Any idea when ZENworks 7 will be available on OES2 SLES10 ? It is mid Feb now. I just want to try imaging on our new OES2 SLES10 64 bit server, we are currently using ZEN 7 on SLES9 and NetWare 6.5, could I install ZCM10 on SLES10 just to get the imaging engine going ( as it has got the firepower ) and use it via SLES9 or should I wait a bit longer ?

ZDM7 on OES2 w/ Hotpatch 2

Submitted by netadmin1 on 19 February 2008 - 9:21am.

The new media would be nice, but seeing as how it's still not available, is it possible to get ZDM7 up and running on OES2 with hotpatch 2? If so, is there a document that describes the installation process?

ZDM SP1 cannot install

Submitted by lgnovell on 13 March 2008 - 10:51am.
