Applying Master Pages from Other Presentations in OpenOffice.org 2.0 Impress

Need to make your presentation comply to corporate style, but don't have the template for OpenOffice.org 2.0 Impress? Here's a tip to show you how to apply master pages from another correctly formatted presentation into yours.

  1. Open the presentation that contains the master pages you want to apply to your presentation. (Even if it was created with some other presentation program, you can open it in OpenOffice.org.)
  2. Select File | Templates | Save.
  3. Select a category.
  4. Name the template.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Open the presentation you've created (the one that you need to make look corporate).
  7. Select Format | Slide Design.
  8. Click Load.
  9. Select the category and template for the template you just created.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Do not mark either the Exchange background or Delete unused backgrounds check boxes.
  12. Click OK.
  13. The new master slide will be applied to the selected slide.
  14. Click the Master Pages task list at the right to see and apply the new master pages.
