Having Problems Starting X?
ENVIRONMENT:
SUSE 10.0 (box) installation
LCD: HP L-2035 analog-digital
ATI Radeon 9600 pro 128
PROBLEM: Unable to install X. Installation including hardware configuration goes without problems for the most part. Upon reboot the OS proceeds until the start of kdm then the music comes on but the monitor goes blank and then goes to standby.
SOLUTION:If you are using an LCD monitor with dual capacity analog-digital, do not use the analog-digital cable.
Here all the posibilities and outcomes with this type of monitor:
- analog-digital cable in analog-dvi mode does not run X.
- analog-analog cable in analog mode works OK.
- digital-digital cable in digital mode works OK.
