Problem

A Forum reader recently asked:

"I'm looking to push GroupWise Messenger to several employee workstations. I'm trying to make the process as automated as possible."

And here is the response from Patrick Farrell ...

Solution

1. Edit the setup.cfg file.

2. Fill in the ServerAddress (you can put a DNS or IP address in) ServerPort (8300 by default).

3. At the bottom of the file, under ShowDialogs, set the following data:

HideAllDialogs=yes

This is for version 1.x. I haven't gotten around to moving to 2.x, but I would imagine it's very similar.

E. Neaves adds:

I found out the hard way that you also may have to modify
setup.ini. Change:

EnableLangDlg=N

Otherwise, you still get the Language prompt.

More silent

If you install it over an existing installation use the UPDATE parameter, to supress the "update or new install" dialog.

For example:
\\servername\volume\applications\messenger\setup.exe UPDATE

Is the UPDATE something new

Is the UPDATE something new to 2.x? I wrote the solution that was posted above, and I've never had to specify update.

I dont know if it is new,

I dont know if it is new, but if you install gwm 2sp2 on top of an existing 2sp1, with EnableLangDlg=N and HideAllDialogs=yes options via ZenWorks, it will still make you a question to update the existing installation or make a clean install. (I dont remember the exact question)
