Testing Formats and Theory
Novell offers two basic formats of exams: Practicum Tests and Traditional Tests.
Practicum Tests
The Novell Practicum, is designed to be extremely rigorous. It tests your working skills, not just your testing skills. The biggest problem in the industry is a shortage of skilled IT professionals. Bottom line is that employers are looking for individuals with experience, knowledge, and proven IT skills. Employees, and potential employees, need a way to prove that they are the best at what they do.
Traditional Tests
Traditional tests typically contain 60-70 test items and deliver the same set of questions to every test taker, regardless of the test taker's level of knowledge or proficiency. Your score on a traditional test depends on the number of questions you answer correctly. If you know a great deal about a topic, you can expect to answer more questions correctly than someone who knows less. Traditional tests have a long history and have proven very useful.

Anymore Adaptive tests

Do they still have Adaptive tests? The kind where once you get the minimum score the test ends. You take a min of 15 and a max of 25 questions.
They start medium, if you get one right you get hard ones till you get it wrong, then it goes down a level.
Is that style gone entirely now?

What ever became of adaptive tests?

Novell doesn't offer adaptive tests anymore. There are a couple of reasons:
- To make a test adaptive, it takes a lot of raw test data. Essentially a standard test would have to be taken thousands of times and then all these results would have to be analyzed to create the adaptive version. Quite honestly, all but a very few of our tests generate enough numbers to qualify.
- It takes a psychometrician with a great deal of expertise to analyze the data and formulate the adaptive test. We used to contract this but no longer. Especially now that we have the practicum exams.

Is there any limit of questions of passing the test or the higher you give answers higher you will score.
