Most backup applications use selection lists to select files or folders to include or exclude for backup and restore.

These lists are limited by the SMS (Storage Management Services) infrastructure and can only be 255 items long. NWSMPutNextName will return fffbfffc for the 256th item in the list.

If the backup application is returning the code fffbfffc, they have probably overstepped the 255 item limit.
