Blog Entry
I just checked out the new TCO Calculator showing the savings customers can realize by migrating from Solaris 8 or 9 on Spark to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on x86 hardware. Pretty easy to use and compelling results.
Take a look.

This is misleading

It only shows Solaris 8 or 9, which have been superseded by Solars 10 for several years. It assumes you run Solaris on SPARC and not Intel.
When you actually compare apples to apples, Solaris 10 on x86-64 to SLES x86-64, you find out they're pretty comparable. You can use Solaris for free, and it's rock solid, so support incidents are few and far between.

I updated my post to more accurately reflect what the TOC Calculator shows - and you're right, it is about moving from Solaris 8 or 9 on Spark to SLES on x86.
Thanks for the feedback.
