So just another rehash of old BrainShare presentations and marketing?
When will you have something new for us?

Hi Eric, First, the summit

Hi Eric,
First, the summit isn't a Novell event, Novell will be there and will be a sponsor but it's not a Novell event.
The GroupWise summit is something that already exists for a few year, and due to the fact that there is the focus on a single product (now two products) the environment is different then what BrainShare offers.
About the rehash of old BrainShare presentations, I'm quit sure that you will find that some of the content you see at one event will be updated and re-used at another event. Next month I will be presenting at Brainstormer in the UK, on my ZSM top support issue session should I just skip the issues that where discussed previous at BrainShare or should I take out the info from BrainShare that is still relevant and update the presentation with new content? Yes, I agree some of the content is re-used too often, sometimes however it's just needed to get the right information gathered.

Let's hope that a few GroupWise and ZENworks developers from Novell attend and actually meet each other for the first time. Then we might get a ZENworks MSI deployment option that actually works.
Sorry. That was overly cynical. But really, why does it have to be *so* hard to get GW7 to deploy via ZEN?

I guess you are talking about deploying the GroupWise client using ZENworks; and ideally using the MSI packaged GroupWise client out of the box?
From my understanding the GroupWise client team have made massive strides in GroupWise 7 SP1 - I will check directly for you on this.
There is a TID 10100388 which covers how to do this.

Yes, a lot of these problems have been fixed in SP1. Have a look at:
"Easily Install the GroupWise 7 Client with Windows Installer"
http://www.gwadvisor.com/doc/18002
"Using ZENworks Desktop Management to Distribute the GroupWise 7 Windows Client"
http://www.msiwisdom.com/index.php?option=com_cont...
"GroupWise 7 Client Installation with ZENworks and MSI "

for more information regarding this topic.

Martin & Roel, I hope

Martin & Roel,
I hope you're right. I lost a month of my life earlier this year trying to get the GW7 client to deploy via ZEN. (The process i used almost exactly corresponded to that described in TID 10100388.) In the end i gave up and my team went around to 100 workstations and manually installed it.
One of the things that doesn't seem to be clear from the TIDs and other items i've read is how to install ZEN in a preinstall environment (i.e. workstation security space, no user logged in at the time).
Looking forward to getting my hands on SP1!
Paul

[...] A few weeks ago we had a few posts regarding the GroupWise and ZENworks Summit in Munich, well in the last few weeks we have been moving forward and have done our best to get a very attractive agenda for the ZENworks side of the event. Several sessions will be looking forward to the next generation of ZENworks so I’m really looking forward to this one. [...]
