One of the nice thing's about working for the Novell European Services Center is the large amount of nationalities. The guy's in my team are from Germany, England, Scotland (normally these two are just from the United Kingdom, just not this month) and Belgium, besides these guy's we've got people from France, Spain, Sweden, Argentina, Russia, the US and several other countries.

With the many different nationalities around, events like the World Cup Football are even more interesting. This week the teams from Germany, England and the Netherlands all won their opening's match, so no big discussions yet. I do feel a bit sorry for Mikael, one of the ZEN specialists from a Novell Partner in Sweden who went to see the first game of the Swedish team, I'm sure he expected more then the 0-0 at the end of the match against Trinidad and Tobago :-)

Thanks your thoughts! I had a grat weekend in Germany. Of course the game wasn't what I expected, but I meet alot of fantastic people from all over the world. Lets hope the Swedish team does better on Thursday against Paraguay, and even better against Englad, wich I'm sure we're gonna beat:=). To see 50.000 crazy, happy, partying Swedes on the streets of Dortmund was really fantastic! That was before the game. After the game it was a bit slower, but still only happy people.
I salute the German people who were all friendly and helping! Cheers!

(and yes, I know the rest of the world calls it football, but I'm an arrogant American and don't care)

Of course soccer (= football for the non-americans). Germany in total right now is a big party place. very very impressive.

There was a very nice article in my local german newspaper about americans and this event. Some special books have been written for people travelling to Germany to explain the differences between the US and Germany. Very very funny examples. I hope that I could buy one or two of these books. If americans really will read these books and think they are right, hmmmm they will get a very different picture from what Germany is.

Well, that's it as far as the World Cup goes for booth Sweden and Holland. The Germans kicked our dreams of glory so far away that it's gonna take a long time to get over it. It looked like the Germans played against some amatour team and just used us a toy...... depressing.
Holland on the other hand played a great game against Portugal and should have won (at least from my point of view), but the referee went totaly nuts and used his yellow and red card so many times, you could think he was trying to set somekind of record! He totaly lost it and destroyed the whole game.
So, Ron, I guess we're both gonna feel sorry for ourselves a while, but I'll get over it....
Hope to see you in Munich in October on the ZENworks Summit so we can "sacrifice" ourselves to visit the Oktoberfest together.
Cheers!

Yeah, we are cleaning up, the orange flags can be stored again :-)

With an English and German sitting next to me at the office, the World Championship will continue to be an interesting topic of discussion, but it will be less fun for me......
