Falling Asleep During a Presentation...

Have you ever attended a technical session, and almost fell asleep cuz you've either stayed up too late the night before, or ate too much turkey or chicken for lunch? I'm currently speaking at the BrainStormer event in the UK this week, and I was sitting in on a totally cool session yesterday done by ENGL - Smart Windows Deployments. A cool guy in the second row needed to catch a little cat nap during the session... while Heath Upton continued to speak, and Steve Thompson drove the demos. I don't think there is any issue with 'catching a nap'... it's when you go into deep sleep that you typically run into a problem. This dude did, and while Heath was speaking to one of the slides he began to snore very loudly. His buddy elbowed him, and when he woke up he suddenly realized what was going on. In the end it was all cool, and everyone had a good laugh. Morale of the story... be careful of falling asleep in public places, and stay away from the chicken and turkey during lunch.

Cheers!!

Then again, avoid the chicken by going to Laurence's presentation which over-runs and you miss lunch ;-)

Just kidding, the presentation was excellent!

Yes i admit the sweet sweet tones of Heath's voice and Steves gentle keyboard tapping sent me to a wonderfully peaceful place, i was just highly gutted when i woke up and found i had only been kipping for a few minutes. I still blame them though for sweet talking me in the hotel bar the night before trying to get my room number giving me a nightmares all night long :)

Gareth, I'm afraid that wasn't me sweet talking you. However there was a Hairdressers convention in the hotel that night and I'm afraid to tell you that the brunette you were talking to at the bar was not all that she seemed. I thought the tattoo of an anchor on his arm would have set off alarm bells. ;-)
