I'm full of admiration for people who find time to update their blog every day, perhaps they were inveterate diary writers, and this is now an easier way to do it, with the added ego boost that someone else may read it! And why is it that everyone waits for you to go on vacation before they send their email? I came back from a week in France to 261 emails and 4500 unread forum messages!

Since my last entry, I finished off the update TIDs for ZMD7 and ZDM6.5, and gosh darn it, we've released another patch for 6.5 (in beta) so that needs doing again. Last week I got involved in creating a CPK for one of the hotpatches, and I wondered if it would be a good thing if we created one for all of the hotpatches - we already create one for support packs, but I think that hotpatches deserve it too. I'm going to look at this very soon (I'm away next week with some of the SysOps on their "retreat", but expect this to be a high priority for me when I return) - does anyone think I'm wasting my time?

It's one of the very few times I went somewhere without an Internet connection. With the SysOp trip, I reckon I can manage without it, since most of the troublemakers will be with me :)

It is easy to tell a customer, "use this file" and your server will be patched. Customer tend to struggle with TED software distributions. having a CPK just makes it simple to patch 50 sites.
(Gosh, this editor needs a spellchecker)

I am very much in favor of using a CPK for as many things as possible. Support packs as CPKs is not just great, it can be the only way to really update some systems. Patching via CPK is great way to get patches actually applied to existing systems and even better way to build them into new installs. The more ZEN that is modifiable, patchable, upgradeable from CPK the better. Of course doing something crazy like spreading the use of CPKs to other products would be intersting as well.

Here's what we go so far for other products.
GroupWise is being developed as we write this- ALEX EVANS is your guy.
eDirectory patches and ugprades and installs are there now.
Handhelds installs and upgrades are there- cool solution coming in a week or so.
Netware support packs and JVMS have been around for ages.
Windows Support packs can be done - I have a template on my cool solution site you guys can use.
ZEnworks Asset Management has a SPK- downloadble from the same place.

AN install for ZEN7 on NetWare is now available. The windows one is pretty easy to do- just need the time.

ZEN7 sp1 has had all its platforms CPKed- CPKable, if you like.

Now ,there is a lot so I've asked cool solutions to tabulate just what we have and where to find them and allow your guys to contribute your favorite pet ones!. This will happen soon.
It only too Shaun, a Day too get into compiling them too! Well done sir!
