UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for a variety of Linux distributions from Windows or Linux.

Step 1:
Download UNetbootin for Windows or Linux from http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

Step 2:
Run UNetbootin for Windows or Linux as per your download.

Step 3:
Plug in your USB Drive to your system.

Step 4:
You have the following options

  1. Use the distribution option to download. Here you can select the distribution and version you want to download.
    OR
  2. Use the diskimage option. With this option you can select an existing ISO from your PC.

Step 5:
Select the USB Drive you want to make a bootable Linux USB and click OK to proceed.

And there you have your bootable Linux USB Drive.

UNetbootin can also be used to load various system utilities besides making a "frugal install" on your local hard disk if you don't have a USB drive.
