UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for a variety of Linux distributions from Windows or Linux.
Step 1:
Download UNetbootin for Windows or Linux from http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
Step 2:
Run UNetbootin for Windows or Linux as per your download.

Step 3:
Plug in your USB Drive to your system.
Step 4:
You have the following options
- Use the distribution option to download. Here you can select the distribution and version you want to download.
OR - Use the diskimage option. With this option you can select an existing ISO from your PC.
Step 5:
Select the USB Drive you want to make a bootable Linux USB and click OK to proceed.
And there you have your bootable Linux USB Drive.
UNetbootin can also be used to load various system utilities besides making a "frugal install" on your local hard disk if you don't have a USB drive.
