Whether you like it or not, this is the year of ActiveSync.

Novell goes ActiveSync.
Alex Evans (GroupWise Product Manager) :

Novell will transition GroupWise Mobile Server (GMS) to an ActiveSync mobility solution in the 2009 calendar year.

We will implement ActiveSync on the server, so that any ActiveSync enabled device will be able to talk natively to GroupWise.

We will be implementing it on Linux and Windows so that you have the choice on how to deploy.

Google goes ActiveSync.

Google has licensed a patent from Microsoft that will allow synchronization of Exchange Server and the popular Gmail service.

Google released software that will provide synchronization of its e-mail, contact and scheduling services with Apple iPhones and devices based on Windows Mobile.

NotifyLink goes ActiveSync.

It created an ActiveSync solution to support the iPhone for GroupWise.

It now has a BlackBerry solution - "NotifySync" - based on ActiveSync as well.

Therefor, its solution now supports Blackberry, Palm, Apple iPhone, Symbian, and Windows Mobile Wireless Devices.

IBM goes ActiveSync.

IBM announced in January that they will support ActivSync by "mid summer 2009".

With the domination of Exchange, Notes and GroupWise in the mail/collaboration platform market, the future could not be brighter.
