Novell GroupWise 8 Webaccess sometimes displays wrong characters when editing or replying to mails. For example if you edit an email and then use the addressbook and return international chars like åäö and such are replaced with ?.
To solve this problem you can try to change the default charset for unknown mails. It's set to HTMLMessage.Charset.default=ISO-8859-1 by default, while Charset.default=UTF8 is the default user charset.
The solution for me was to simply change HTMLMessage.Charset.default to match Charset.default. The file this is setup in is /var/opt/novell/groupwise/webaccess/webacc.cfg on Linux.
Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).
It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.

Hi,
I same seen same issue here, but unfortunately the fix didn't work for me. Still accessing address book letters are transformed into ? - and Charset set shown on properties are still shown as "Windows default".
Yes, system was restarted... ;-)
