While doing some research for ways to produce a unified audit log for OES & SLES services I came across the OpenXDAS Package.

On the project website they have reference documentation for anyone who's instrumented their application to Novell Audit which helps to change the instrumentation to OpenXDAS.

This is a welcome change, but I have to wonder whether there is any momentum behind it?

What I find odd is that NSS and much of SLES is instrumented for the standard distribution auditd. Why is there a differing direction here? Are there plans for these two to converge at some point?

Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).

It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.

Any response?

I am in the exact same situation as the original poster. The OpenXDAS initiative sounds like what I am looking for, but I do not want to back the wrong horse.

Are there other applications that have integrated this standard?
