I spent yesterday afternoon and most of the evening trying to get the PHP rrdtool extension working on SLES 10 SP1 to no avail.

While I could compile the extension, when I added it to the appropriate directory and configured the php.ini file it just didn't seem to pick it up.

I even went to the degree of recompiling PHP from source, using the same version as ships with SLES 10 SP1, to try and ensure that I could be more inclusive with the modules - but that didn't work either.

Anyway - perhaps someone else has done this, or perhaps someone has the capacity to try and work out why the extension isn't loading.

The following bits of information are applicable to the process:

Hi,

Well, first of all, SP1 is not something that is even supported by Novell, but then this solution is either. Have you tried using any of the openSUSE rpms?
Go to
http://software.opensuse.org/Search
Choose openSUSE 10.3
Search for rrdtool
See if that works for you...

Thank you for your answer, however I seem to have been misunderstood.

The rrdtool package ships within the SLES distribution - that is not the problem. The problem is that I want the rrdtool PHP binding, which does not ship with any SUSE distribution and has not been packaged by anyone for SUSE, at least as far as I can find.

I have also tried rpm's from other distributions (fedora, red hat, etc) but they don't seem to work either.

The challenge would be to figure out how to compile it AND make it work on any SUSE distribution. If anyone can figure it out and provide the instructions regarding how to do so, then I'll work it out for SLES 10 SP1, which is the platform I ultimately need it on.

Goto:
http://software.opensuse.org/search

Enter "rrdtool" in the "box" and in the dropdown box select SLES10 then do a search.

Download the rpm and install it.
