I blogged about this on my personal blog at http://richardbliss.typepad.com.

Spam is up 141% this year. 60% of the global email is coming out of China's botnets. 14 million pcs were turned into zombies over the summer of 2009 according to McAfee.

A zombie is when your computer is infected with a certain kind of virus that takes control of your machine without you knowing about it. A botnet is a group of zombie computers, all working together to use the infected machines to send out massive amounts of spam, all attempting to infect your PC with an infected attachment or a link they want you to click on.

At Christmas time, it is a common practice to pose as a friend with an e-card wishing you the best during the holidays. Don't click on that link. Better yet, ask your friends to not send them. I know there are companies out there legitimate, but the risk is too high in my opinion. The zombies, once the infect your PC will drain your bank account if they get the chance.

Again, I blog about this on my personal blog at http://richardbliss.typepad.com
