Blog Entry
As you have already seen, Novell announced the public availability for Novell Data Synchronizer Mobility Pack. See Blog by Alex Evans.
This release follows the July release of the Novell Data Synchronizer engine, the GroupWise connector and connectors for SharePoint, SugarCRM and salesforce.com.
Communication to all EUC customers, partners, and users will begin on September 13th. Although, Open Horizons kindly leaked the release late last week. :) The more communication and buzz the better – I say!
As a side note: Open Horizons is having a Mobility Event on Tuesday September 14. The Battle of Mobility event in de Efteling, a large amusement park in Benelux. Details can be found here. Erno de Korte describes the panels as European hot-shots: Uwe Krause for GW Mobility, Volkmar Ruzicka for BES and Denis de With for Notifylink.
Now back to the main topic…. A few excerpts from the communication campaign.
Whether you need enhanced mobile support or greater application integration, Novell Data Synchronizer will give your users all the data they need—in the office, at home or on the road. And, with the available SDK, you can customize existing connectors or create new ones to address your specific needs.

A few more details.
Supported GroupWise Version for Mobility The recommended and supported version of GroupWise that should be installed and running for Mobility is GroupWise 8.0.2. I am referring to the agent versions. This includes the POA, MTA, GWIA and GWINTER. The Mobility Pack leverages the POA SOAP interface to accurately synchronize your GroupWise data to your mobile device. This version recommendation does not affect the version of the GroupWise Clients. However, we also advise updating your GroupWise Clients to ensure the best possible experience for your end-users.
New Devices It seems that the mobile industry continues to grow and expand at an ever increasing speed. New mobile devices are announced and introduced to the market almost every day. The Novell Data Synchronizer Mobility Pack is designed to grow and expand to support as many of these devices as possible. We anticipate ongoing updates to our technology in order to support this constant flow. Mobile devices, tablets and minis will all be on our list to support. Please refer back to our DeviceWiki to keep pace.
Support Forums The Novell Data Synchronizer technology allowed us to try something unique as a GroupWise development team. The ‘Tech Preview’ was born. This collaborative development, testing and support methodology will continue as frequent updates will be required to further support new devices, expand scalability and increase performance and reliability. We encourage you to participate with us to help your organizations and others to get the most out of this solution.
Trouble shooting Ideas. Later this week, I have invited Tony Anderson to be a guest on my blog. Tony is the lead QA engineer for Novell Data Synchronizer. Tony will share his insight and expertise on the ins/outs of getting the most from the Mobility solution.
