(View Disclaimer)

Business Service Management Commentary on IT Service Management, Service Level Management & Performance Management Business service management is a practice many organizations try to achieve with many IT management tools. There are many tools that contribute to a successful practice, but it is the integration platform that stitches it all together to make sense of it in real time. Quite simply put, a good business service management practice enables you to communicate service performance while maintaining control over the environment.

At Novell, we think of it in three key areas:

  • Operate - monitor performance and availability for service quality
  • Control - map and manage configurations for standards and compliance to process
  • Deliver - measure and communicate service performance in real time

Novell Operations Center delivers service monitoring, service mapping and service measuring enabling organizations to communicate service performance, value and service enable their infrastructure in real time. Requirements to deliver with speed, flexibility and mixed environments are driving the business service management imperative. Business service management is no longer a nice to have, but a must have in service enabling and removing risk from managing technology.

We have posted a check list of the most common requirements for any business service management practice and tool set on The Hub, come look it over and join the conversation.
