ENVIRONMENT: NetWare 6.5SP5 servers running ZENworks for Desktops 7SP1HP4 using the imaging engine from HP5.
Problem: ZENworks 7sp1hp5 imaging engine doesn't detect Broadcom Netlink 5787 Gigabit NIC in Acer Laptop 6410.
Solution
I modified the linuxrc.config file from the initrd file to detect the new hardware. I added the following to the bottom of the file:
newid="0x14e4 0x1693,tg3"
I was able to use the existing tg3 driver as Broadcom hasn't updated the driver for nearly 6 months.
