HotPatch

A few weeks ago I posted a blog about the ZENworks Hot Patches, these are the internal patch builds that Novell Support can send to customers that have reported some problems. To get access to such a Hot Patch people always needed to open a Service Request with Novell Support.

The people that keep an eye on the changed TID's over the last week (as example TID 10093575) might have noticed we have made it more easy to get access to these Hot Patches, if a problem described in a TID has been resolved in the last Hot Patch, the TID will be updated to indicate how to obtain the Patch.

Just be aware, the Hot Patches have had far less testing then what is done with an Interim Release or Support Pack, if there is no urgent need to get a fix, the preferred thing to do is wait a bit and get the next Support Pack.

Like Ron says, we're in the process of updating these TIDs, I'm responsible for making sure it happens, and when we've got more of them updated, I'll update the "master" TID for each product (the one that shows the updates in each patch, e.g. TID 10093355 for ZDM6.5)
If you spot any problems with the TIDs and these links, let me know - spond@novell.com

Wow! That was exactly the hot patch I needed! Awesome.

Just one question though, Why do I have to download 465 megabytes to get the agent? Why can't you just make it available?

Grant - some of the fixes require the server-side updating as well as the agent. We have only performed testing with all the updates in place, so rather than put people in a position where they only have half the fix, it's all together...

Is it possible to get a listing of what HF's will be in what SP? Zen 7 SP1 is supposedly frozen now prior to release, so are these HF's included or post sp1?

I just tried sending an email to zen.feedback@novell.com and got a reply from Mailer-Daemon@sinclair.provo.novell.com saying that :

The message that you sent was undeliverable to the following:

There curently are no hotpatches available, as far as I know the fix you mention should be included inside the ZEN 7 SP1. If this still causes problems I would suggest to get in contact with Novell Support to have them look at this
