Blog Entry
If you're like me, you've used an iPod, you've probably given iPods as gifts, you might even own an iPod, but the mobile device that you carry from morning to night is a BlackBerry.
If you're not a BlackBerry user, scram! Go get another shotgun or flatulence simulator from the app store for your iPhone.
OK, BB users, here's an easy podcatcher application for you. A podcatcher is an app that allows you to "catch" or automatically download podcasts. This podcatcher works right on your BlackBerry without the need to install anything on your PC.
The app is called PodTrapper from Versatile Monkey. You can try it out free for 30 days by downloading it OTA (Over The Air) here right from your BB.
What I like about PodTrapper is its:
- nice interface
- complete list of features
- default to NOT download podcasts over cellular data
- price - $10
If you've got a newer BB that supports Wi-Fi, simply OTA install and begin subscribing to podcasts like Novell SalesTalk. If yours doesn't support Wi-Fi, then you'll need to install the Podtrapper Desktop Downloader v1.2 on the Windows PC where you've installed the BlackBerry Desktop Software and connect up every time you want to update your podcasts. Sounds like more trouble, but it's no different than having to cradle your iPod to sync it.
Once you're in PodTrapper and you want to subscribe to SalesTalk:
- hit the menu button
- choose Add podcasts
- choose Enter urls manually rather than Browse/Search (SalesTalk is not registered with the search engine...but Novell OpenAudio is)
- type http://www.novell.com/feeds/salestalk/?feed=rss2&f...
Enjoy!
