The fashion industry has a great concept where trends are always repeated. They call this the fashion cycle. Every morning on my commute in to work I observe this in person. Apparently 80’s fashions are back in style now, albeit streamlined a bit from their original incarnations. I see endless streams of women wearing off the shoulder blouses that could have come from a Cyndi Lauper’s closet and an army of men trying to be Gordon Gecko. Thank goodness I don’t wear a suit to work!

About 10 years ago, I was young and naïve, and was sold by marketing hype on a newer better design for an electric guitar from a company called Parker. The slick glossies that I came across had me salivating at the thought of a new and better way to play my music. Could these things actually make me a better musician?

When I was younger I played lead guitar in a heavy metal band. I also co-hosted a radio show on a community radio station. I remember how incredibly empowering it was at that time to be able to have an audience for my thoughts and ideas.
