Problem
A Forum reader recently asked:
"I have one GWIA and aliases for user setup, such as "name.surname". For some users, I need to create multiple aliases. I've tried using nicknames, but they don't allow full stops (".") in the name. For example, a user "Christopher Smith" has "christopher.smith" - and he would also like "chris.smith". Any ideas how to accomplish this?"
And here's the response from Danita Zanre ...
Solution
1. Create a nickname with Chris as the first name and Smith as the surname, making sure you allow first.last addressing.
2. Put the first.last names in the Preferred Email address in the Internet Addr section of the Nickname.
Then internal mail addressed this way will get delivered. If you don't do this last step, when someone inside your organization tries "chris.smith", it will fail.
