More ZENworks in the Superlab
I wrote a few weeks ago about working in the Superlab. I managed to get another week and some more machines. Not as many as last time - but still good fun.
I am working with my team of Product Managers on some competitive and scaling details for some white papers.Written at: Provo, UT
Today was setup day.
We're using ZENworks 10 Configuration Management running on both SLES 10 and Windows 2003 servers to test the environment. Here you see us imaging Vista and Windows XP from a SLES 10 server.
One of the pieces of the time in the Superlab is to document and show the doubters that ZCM runs on SLES 10.
Here are a couple of racks being managed from the SLES 10 server.
It's good hardware too. We're running on dual AMD Opterons - and using 64 bit OS where practical. We've got SLES 10 on x86_64 as well as 64 bit Vista in the mix. Naturally we also support Windows 2003 on x86_64 too.

What kind of power do you guys have running to that area? How many of the machines are 64 bit?

Is there a direct link between Novell Yes certified hardware and what can be found in the superlab? Are there many servers and any mainframes in there?

There is no direct link between the super lab and the Yes certified hardware.
The super lab has machines that are specifically used for scalability and performance testing, the machines used are selected for this purpose. The super lab has 25 rows, within a row it's all identical machines so that standard images can be used while testing. Have a look at the current list at:

It's a mix of 32 bit and 64

It's a mix of 32 bit and 64 bit hardware. As Ron says (below) we test scale and performance.
As for power - lots of it!
