Novell's user communities continue to grow and thrive. Every participant adds to the value of the overall community as more and more people get involved. I'd like to make you aware of a couple of community milestones that were reached this past month:
On January 27, 2009 the Novell Forums hit a milestone of 40,000 registered members. That's not just people that came to look around, that's actually people who bothered to login. The new Novell Forums web interface was brought online in February of 2008 with 0 registered members so that's a lot of growth in slightly less than one year!
On January 15, 2009 the openSUSE Forums hit a milestone of 20,000 registered members. These forums were brought online for the first time in June 2008, again a lot of growth for this one project.
Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).
It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.
