Load Balancing User Placement in GroupWise Post Offices - Part 1

Novell Identity Manager has a lot of available drivers to connect to other systems. I have written about a number of them in the past. I have not done a lot with the GroupWise driver yet, so lots of functionality is new to me. When I start using a new driver and find things that are new to me, I like to write about it, so others can get the benefit of my learning experience.

Bulk Renaming Novell User Accounts

Recently we had to change the login names for around 1200 students.

For this rename we needed to change the students' Novell eDirectory account and home directory as well as ensuring linked systems such as an LDAP authenticated Moodle site and an IDM linked Active Directory (AD) domain were properly updated.

Interesting Schema Syntaxes in eDirectory from an Identity Manager Perspective - Part 1

Out of the box there are a number of really interesting schema syntaxes in Novell eDirectory available that we can use. Many of them we are familiar with and some of them are used in the background and we do not see them, but they are used all over the place.

Example of a Use for a Toolkit Rule in Identity Manager

If you have been following along my series on toolkit rules, this is a no-brainer to extend the default rule we left off with at the end of part 3. In fact, it is a nice way to do it internal to the Identity Manager system itself.
