The BETA version of Novell Operations Center 5.0 is almost ready for downloading. We have a few spots open for existing BSM/NOC customers, if you are interested in participating, please drop me an email at tisenberg@novell.com. Be advised, in order to participate, we do have some specific requirements that must be fulfilled such as doing the BETA within a specific timeframe as well as answering a questionaire. I will provide the details if you are interested in joining in on the BETA.
The 5.0 release of Novell Business Service Manager (aka: Managed Objects) is the official rebranding to Novell Operations Center. With this release, we are providing more than product icon updates and colors on the user interfaces, we have also improved the product in a few areas as well as certified third party products.
Disclaimer: Below are highlights for the release only. Specific features, limitations and any other dependencies for the features are covered within the documentation.
For Databases, we certified PostgresSQL as a backend database for Novell Operations Center. We also expanded the backend support for Sybase.
Two adapters were upgraded in order to support IBM Netcool 7.3 and Solarwinds Orion 9.5
Many of our customers utilize the LDAP feature, we improved upon this feature by allowing schedules and LDAP groups.
The Dashboard will now contain SLA portlets natively and you will no longer need to use the legacy Portal Builder Dashboard.
Several other changes have been made for this release, many of which will be covered in the “What’s New” section of the Release notes.
Thanks,
Tobin
Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).
It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.
