Corporate Giving Programs

At Novell, we enable nonprofit organizations to develop and realize their visions through the power of technology. Technology has revolutionized the way businesses operate, communicate and market. These same innovations can provide important breakthroughs for non-profit organizations. Novell recognizes the community-building power of technology through our Software Donation Program which supports that philosophy.

In addition, Novell takes an active role in the communities where our employees live and work by engaging in partnerships with local United Way organizations in their communities.

Software Donation Program: Corporate Giving Guidelines

When an organization applies for Novell support through our Software Donation Program, the group must show that it has a clear purpose, is efficiently organized, and provides a needed service. The organization must meet the following criteria to be considered for a software grant:

1. The organization must be considered exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Tax Code, have a Canadian Charitable Registration Number or be a recognized American Indian Reservation.
2. The mission of the organization must focus on one of the following areas:
   • Education
   • Homeless & Hungry
   • Arts & Culture
3. The organization must support a wide range of diverse individuals in the community regardless of race, gender or religion.
4. Novell Community Relations will not consider donation requests from individuals, parties, conferences, national health organizations, political or religious organizations, organizations with political or religious affiliations, sports or entertainment marketing or organizations that are fraternal in nature.
5. Overhead expenses must not exceed 20 percent of total operating budget.
6. The Corporate Giving Program is designed to support organizations that meet the criteria described here, and is unable to consider or contribute to special or individual situations and sponsorships.
