Use of Software

downgrades

Novell does allow the downgrading of current versions of Novell software on a case-by-case basis by special permission. The permission letter, if issued, will allow the holder to legally run a downgraded version of the product for a specified period. The permission letter, if issued, will allow you to run the downgraded version of the software in place of the upgraded version. You will not have permission to use both versions of the software under the same license.

The standard procedure to accomplish a downgrade that is not covered under an existing End User License Agreement (EULA) is to purchase the current version of a product, and then submit a request to [Customer Response Center] by e-mail at crc@novell.com in the Novell Legal Department requesting the downgrade. We require that requests to downgrade are submitted on a product-by-product basis.

Please be advised that although certain Novell software, or portions of Novell software and/or system files are available for free download via the Internet, Novell, Inc, as copyright owner, retains its proprietary rights to said software technology. The Novell files that are posted on the Internet are not free for you to redistribute. Any questions or subsequent permission requests must be e-mailed to crc@novell.com or by phone 1-888-321-4272.

license transfer

If you are seeking permission to donate or transfer software product, software licenses, or hardware loaded with Novell software to another party, you may do so by calling the Novell Customer Service Response Center at 1-888-321-4272 to receive written permission. Novell reserves the right to deny such permission. All transfers of license, either through a sales transaction, donation, or gift must include all product documentation, product manuals, original disks and licenses. Further conditions of transfer may be included in your EULA. The individual or entity giving up their software and license(s) must understand that they are giving up all of their rights to the transferred software, including all rights to upgraded versions of the software.

making copies

Requests to make copies of Novell software products are handled on a case-by-case basis and do require written permission. Requests to make extra copies of product should be submitted to Customer Response Center by phone at 1-888-321-4272 or e-mail crc@novell.com.
