When Is Permission Needed?
can you use Novell trademarks or product names without obtaining written permission?
Referential Use:
Novell does not object to your making referential use of our product names (but not logos), provided the use is not misleading as to Novell sponsorship, affiliation or endorsement of your company, or your products or services.
Novell requests that you use our trademarks and registered trademarks correctly and refer to them properly.
- Proper reference includes marking them with the appropriate trademark symbol (® or ) and using the correct product descriptor.
- The first and most prominent reference should contain the full product name and proper trademark symbol.

In addition, Novell requires that you provide the following notice within your product and/or product documentation which attributes ownership of the mark(s) to Novell, Inc:
______________________ and ___________________ are [either] registered trademarks [or] trademarks of Novell, Inc. in the United States and other countries.
Other Use:
Any other type of use of Novell product names requires expressed permission from Novell. Please send your request via email to permission@novell.com.
