Welcome to the Novell BrainShare 2003 issue of our magazine.
Thousands of you have descended on Salt Lake City, Utah for the best conference in the technology industry, BrainShare SLC, April 13–18, 2003. We’re excited to bring you some of our hottest announcements saved for this event. We’ll cover some of them in this issue to give you an exciting peek into where Novell is headed, and leave the rest of the fun for BrainShare.
I’m sure you’ll agree that Novell has never had a stronger offering with the breadth and depth of our current solutions line. We’re making an impact on literally every aspect of your business.
We’ve deepened our commitment to Web services with the new release of Novell exteNd 4.1 made possible by our recent acquisition of SilverStream. This powerhouse standards-based solution packs a punch that will solve even the toughest application integration problems in your business. And make it easy.
In addition, NetWare 6.5 will make its debut at BrainShare. With new functionality that completely pushes this solution far beyond a simple networking resource, NetWare 6.5 has a robust architecture, improved security and reliability, and support for several popular open source technologies. Novell exteNd AppServer is also included in this release, as well as Novell Nterprise Branch Office. And the new Virtual Office incorporates end-user services.
We know that secure identity management is one of your chief concerns, and as you’ll see from Jeff’s article, we’ve got that covered for you as well.
That’s about all I can say right now because we’ll roll out the rest this week at BrainShare. But if you couldn’t make it to Salt Lake City, watch for the latest news and announcements coming from Novell about GroupWise and our ZENworks solution suite (with more to come in the May/June issue).
And if you couldn’t be here this year, plan now on joining us next year. Or come join us in Barcelona, Spain September 7–11, for Novell BrainShare Europe 2003. Check our Web site ( http://www.novell.com/brainshare) for more details.
I think you’ll agree that Novell is charging forward; we are energized about providing solutions that will solve critical business problems while improving your enterprise efficiency and increasing your bottom line. Please enjoy this issue and stay tuned for a little flavor of things to come from the next Novell.
Best regards,–Alan Nugent, Chief Technology Officer, Novell
