Engagement Details

Because each implementation is different, we recommend that you work with a consultant prior to the beginning of the project to scope out your project. Regardless of the size of your project, Novell IT consultants and partners follow a proven methodology that is divided into several distinct phases and deliverables.

Discovery

The Novell ZENworks Migration offering starts with defining the business needs and technical requirements for your migration. Over the course of one week, a team of highly qualified consulting experts will work closely with you to assess your organization and prepare you to migrate from Novell ZENworks 6.5 or 7.0 to the latest version of ZENworks Configuration Management. This discovery phase includes:

• A one-day kickoff and business assessment to align the high-level technology design with your business goals
• A two-day technical assessment to analyze your infrastructure and make sure your environment is capable of supporting Novell ZENworks Configuration Management
• A two-day design and documentation phase to develop a high-level architecture and migration plan
• An assessment document that details the findings of the engagement, makes specific recommendations and outlines a complete migration plan and conceptual architecture for your organization

Inception and Elaboration

Once the initial solution has been defined and approved, a more detailed design and deployment approach is built and tested for your lab environment. The inception and elaboration phase takes approximately two weeks and includes:

• A detailed Novell ZENworks solution definition
• Defined deployment approach
• Creation, validation, and testing of your individualized solution in a lab environment

Construction

During the two-week construction phase, the core ZENworks services are deployed into your administration center and one to two field locations. This pilot implementation allows for real-world testing of your solution in a live, controlled environment before full-scale deployment. Your pilot implementation result in the:

• Deployment of core ZENworks services
• Production deployment to a sample population

Transition Phase

Once the pilot implementation is done and evaluated, your consulting team will start the enterprise-wide deployment of your Novell ZENworks solution into your live production environment and begin knowledge transfer to your staff.
