Designer for Identity Manager

Integrate Designer 3.0 Into Existing Eclipse Installation

Not Supported By Novell
These are the steps that need to be taken to integrate Designer for Identity Manager into an existing installation of Eclipse. Note: these instructions will not work with Designer versions prior to 3.0.
  1. Download and install the Eclipse 3.3.1 platform.
  2. Download and install the latest EMF (sdk), GEF (sdk), and WTP (get the one for your platform) from eclipse.org.
  3. Download and unzip the latest stable release of Designer (3.0)
  4. Go to the directory where you unzipped Designer and look for a directory called features. Unzip all of the archives in that directory into the same location as your Eclipse installation.
  5. Because of the memory usage of Designer, you will need to change your heap and stack settings for Eclipse. In the Eclipse directory, find a file called "eclipse.ini" and add the following lines (or change those there to match)
    -vmargs
    -Xms512m
    -Xmx1024m
  6. Start Eclipse (or restart) and open the Designer Perspective.
