Product Overview

CommVault provides two Novell Open Enterprise Server-compatible products as part of its unified data management solution set. Galaxy Backup & Recovery is an enterprise-wide data protection solution with support for file systems on AIX, Mac, HP-UX, Linux, Windows, NetWare, Solaris and more. Galaxy provides a single management interface console that coordinates data backup and recovery across all platforms. Customized application agents are available for Novell GroupWise, providing the ability to support user restoration at the message level. With Novell eDirectory, restore is available at the object level. QiNetix DataMigrator for NetWare provides automatic, policy-based hierarchical storage management that tightly integrates with Galaxy. Active migration reduces the amount of data stored on primary disk by moving older, less used data to less costly secondary storage.

CommVault enables seamless data management between OES NetWare and OES Linux.

Overview of Solution Architecture and Integration

All CommVault products use a common technology engine (CTE) which provides a common set of services and unified management across all platforms. Solution components consist of a management console, job manager, data engine, indexer and a copy manager. These components enable backup and recovery, archiving, migration, replication and snapshots.
