Overview of Solution Architecture and Integration

BrightStor ARCserve Backup consists of two main components that work together to backup, copy and restore data-the Backup Manager Interface and the Backup Server. The Backup Manager Interface runs on a Windows server and schedules jobs, displays reports and performs other device management jobs.

The Backup Server runs on Novell Open Enterprise Server - NetWare or Open Enterprise Server - Linux and hosts the job engine (which processes jobs at specified dates and times), tape engine (which controls tape device or devices) and the database engine. The database engine maintains a library of all files and all tasks performed.
