Montreal, August 14, 2007 - Messaging Architects, the leader in risk management software and services for enterprise email, announced today the new release of its next-generation M+Guardian secure gateway solution. The new version includes improved connection control, configurable reports and enhancements to the reporting features, and multiple, autonomous spam engines to meet the latest internet-based security threats. Designed to integrate seamlessly with any email system, M+Guardian lets email administrators easily manage the security of the collaboration environment, saving time and reducing cost.
M+Guardian's improved connection control further raises the appliance's performance by adding the Spamhaus Block List as a layer on the connection level of the email firewall for maximum protection against malicious IP addresses. The SBL database is maintained by a dedicated international Spamhaus Project team based in 9 countries, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to list new confirmed spam issues and delist resolved issues. By blocking significant amounts of spam at the mail server level through a variety of methods, including greylisting and dynamic local IP reputation, the M+Guardian email firewall not only enables higher email throughput but also ensures improved performance and availability of enterprise-class messaging systems.
M+Guardian introduces new capabilities in reporting that provide detailed information about the stability and vulnerabilities of the corporate collaboration system in real time. The web-based M+Guardian console provides ready access to the various dashboards and report views, without requiring that IT administrators install any software on their systems, and enables them to connect to the security platform from just about anywhere.
In addition to multiple dashboards and drill-downs with highly granular data about each message, administrators are also able to generate executive reports with summaries about system activity and snapshots of a variety of parameters, such as total number of messages passing through the corporate system, threat ratio levels, primary targets of spam and malicious email in the organization. These executive reports are fully customizable and can be scheduled and emailed to executive management to promote more effective security decisions.
The new M+Guardian release is also the first email firewall to offer multiple, autonomous anti-spam engines that operate completely independently from one another and are developed and maintained by independent development and engineering teams. "The implications of this approach are impressive," explains Michael Mastine, Director of Product Management at Messaging Architects. "By layering a number of autonomous engines, we are eliminating the single point of failure that arises when spammers circumvent a given algorithm in the engine. The autonomous work of multiple teams offers a much higher level of resistance against spammers and even more solid protection of our clients' messaging infrastructures."
The new version of the M+Guardian Appliance continues the "Fire-and-Forget" concept underlying Messaging Architects' Guardian technology which is designed to simplify email management, eliminate spam, and help businesses stop data loss, while complying with industry regulations through a centrally-managed, directory-services-enabled policy engine, and delivering clients uninterrupted availability of their collaboration systems.
M+Guardian 2007.3, the latest version of Messaging Architects' advanced messaging firewall, is available as an appliance and is compatible with all standard email servers, including Novell GroupWise, Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes. For more information, visit:
