Are you a GroupWise customer interested in testing SugarCRM in order to run Omni's Riva SugarCRM Agent for GroupWise? If so, you might want to configure SugarCRM to use eDirectory for user LDAP authentication. Here's how!

Enable eDirectory LDAP Authentication for SugarCRM

SugarCRM documentation provides details on how to configure SugarCRM to use Microsoft Active Directory for LDAP authentication. But it doesn't include anything on Novell eDirectory. Following are the steps to configure SugarCRM to use eDirectory LDAP user authentication.

1. In the LDAP Authentication Support sub-panel, select the Enable LDAP box and enter the following information:
Server: Enter the LDAP server name or IP address: 10.10.2.141 (example)
Port Number: 389 (example)
Base DN: ou=users,o=omni (Example of base DN name of eDirectory container to be searched)
Bind Attribute: dn (Attribute name used to bind the user's name in LDAP)
Login Attribute: cn (Attribute name used to search for the user in LDAP)
Authenticated User: cn=admin,ou=users,o=omni (Name of authenticated user)
Authenticated Password: xxxxxxx (Authenticated users' password)
Auto Create Users: Select this option to check the Sugar Suite database for the user name and add it if it does not exist in the database.
Encryption Key: Not required for GroupWise users. (Only required for Outlook users.)
2. To save the settings, click Save.
3. To restore the previous settings, click Restore.
4. To exit the System Settings page without saving your changes, click Cancel.

If you do not want to use the Authenticated User & Password outlined above, you will need to setup your eDirectory LDAP Group objects to use a Proxy user. The advantage of using the Proxy user method is you would not need to specify the Authenticated User & Password.

And that's it. SugarCRM is now configured to use eDirectory LDAP user authentication!
