Current Version: ZENworks for Desktops 3

Here's a handy reference for you to print and keep. It describes the Application Management (aka NAL) files that are installed with ZENworks for Desktops 3. It even tells you where they are typically installed on the server and workstation.

Here's what you'll find:

What is NALSTART and Why is it there?

NALSTART is the program called by NAL.EXE and NALEXPLD.EXE. NALSTART performs several functions that include: updating files on the workstation, updating the NAL NT service, registering and starting the workstation helper process (ZENAPPWS.DLL), and launching the appropriate program NALWIN32.EXE for Application Launcher or NALDESK.EXE for Application Explorer. During the run of NALSTART, if the NT service is out of date with the files in the source location and the service is currently loaded, NALSTART will run NALNTSRV.EXE with the >install start= parameters.

Contents

  • Install Directories and File Definitions
  • Files Copied by NALNTSRV/NALSRVLD
  • Workstation Location of Files
