Version: ZENworks for Desktops 3.2

ZENworks for Desktops (ZfD) 3.2 provides partial support for Windows XP Professional as detailed below:

  • No other versions of ZENworks for Desktops (including ZfD2, ZfD 3.0, or ZENworks Starter Pack) will support Windows XP.
  • ZfD 3.2 supports only Microsoft Windows XP Professional. It does not support Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
  • ZfD 3.2 requires the Novell Client for Windows XP version 4.82. No earlier versions of Novell Client 32 are supported.
  • ZfD 3.2 Workstation Management has been updated to support Windows XP Professional Group Policies. This requires the Novell Client for Windows XP version 4.82, a new ConsoleOne snap-in for the Group Policy, and ConsoleOne 1.3.2.
  • The new ZfD Group Policy snap-in files, WMPOLICIES.JAR and WMPOLICIESR.JAR, are included in WMPOLICY.ZIP, which is available for download at the same Web site where the beta version of Novell Client 4.82 is obtained. Extract the files to the CONSOLEONE\1.2\SNAPINS\ZEN folder on the machine where you are running ConsoleOne.
  • All other currently-shipping ZfD 3.2 components (except Workstation Imaging) support the Windows XP Professional environment in the same way that they support the Windows 2000 Professional environment. No new or enhanced features have been enabled specifically for Windows XP support.
  • ZfD Imaging for Windows XP Professional workstations will be provided in an as-is pre-release update. The update will be made available right here in the Novell ZENworks Cool Solutions.
Note: The imaging update will not be "supported" by support and will most probably be available next month.

Full support for Microsoft Windows XP Professional, including improved Group Policy support, enhanced Microsoft Installer, and many other features, will be included in the next major release of ZENworks for Desktops, due to ship in the spring of 2002.
