Check out these freshly updated Java-based NetWare-to-NetWare FTP-based utilities capable of single file, single directory or single directory tree FTP operations. They're free to a good home, under the GNU Lesser General Public License, and by the good grace of the generous Marc Savereux.

These utilities use the FTP client-side protocol to delete, get, list (dir), move or put:

  • A single file, or
  • all files within a single directory, or
  • all files and directories within a single directory structure.

These programs were designed to be used at a NetWare server's console prompt as command line utilities.

In order to use these utilities you will need the following:

  • A NetWare 5.1 or NetWare 6.0 server that will act as an FTP client host.
  • Access to the server console of the NetWare server acting as an FTP client host.
  • A remote FTP server that is running either on a NetWare, UNIX or Windows NT/2000 host.
  • An FTP user account with sufficient permissions to perform the operation to be done on the remote FTP server.
  • An account performing a DEL operation needs the rights to use the CHDIR, DEL, DIR, RMDIR and SYST commands on the remote FTP server.
  • An account performing a DIR operation needs the rights to use the CHDIR, DIR and SYST commands on the remote FTP server.
  • An account performing a GET operation needs the rights to use the CHDIR, DIR, GET and SYST commands on the remote FTP server.
  • An account performing a MoVe operation needs the rights to use the CHDIR, MKDIR and PUT commands on the remote FTP server.
  • An account performing a PUT operation needs the rights to use the CHDIR, MKDIR and PUT commands on the remote FTP server.
  • An account performing a REN operation needs the rights to use the CHDIR, RNFR, RNTO and SYST commands on the remote FTP server.
  • A NetWare server running a NetWare JVM that is version 1.2.2 or 1.3.x.
  • The JAVA.NLM must already be loaded before attempting to use any of these utilities.
  • ~375K of disk space on the NetWare server acting as an FTP client host.

Installation

1. Create a dedicated directory for these tools on the NetWare server that will act as an FTP client host.

2. Use WinZIP or UltimateZIP or another utility to unzip the contents of the NWFTPCLU.ZIP file into the dedicated directory.

3. Either add the full path to the file named com.xaro.NWFTPCLU.jar to the CLASSPATH value in the SYS:\ETC\CONFIG.JAVA file,

or

Create .NCF files in the directory named SYS:\SYSTEM which contain the JAVA command line needed to run these utilities.

See the example NCF scripts in section 13 of the ReadMe file.

Usage

As these utilities are all command-line utilities, there are at least two ways of executing these utilities:

1. Type the full JAVA command at the console.

2. Use an NCF script that contains the JAVA command and pass it whatever parameters may be needed by the utility so that in turn it runs the utility. (Recommended method)
