If you upgrade the ZENworks for Desktops 4.x Management Agent from the shipping (InstallShield) version to the Support Pack (MSI) version on Windows 98SE, you are required to uninstall the old version, before you can install the new version. The agent does not come with an automatic way to do this.

The sequence shown below has been tested with an agent installed on W98SE, and should allow you to automate the first part of the upgrade.

To uninstall the original agent from the command line

  1. Get autoit from http://www.hiddensoft.com/AutoIt (it's free).
  2. Run autoit with this script.

; This script will remove the ZfD4 shipping agent and reboot
Run, "C:\\PROGrAM FILES\\COMMON FILES\\INSTALLSHIELD\\DRIVER\\7\\INTEL 32\\IDRIVER.EXE"
