With the release of Novell? ZENworks? for Desktops 4, included in the ZENworks 6 suite, Novell introduced a new architectural element known as the ZENworks Middle Tier server. The Middle Tier server is a Web server with ZENworks Web components that are built upon Apache or IIS and provide functions to the workstation agents that allow them to deliver all ZENworks Desktop management features.
When a ZENworks Middle Tier server is part of the infrastructure, many workstation agents may be directed to the same Middle Tier server making the Middle Tier server a resource that needs to be understood and managed properly in order to provide scalability and availability to all the clients in your organization.
This white paper discusses the current expectations that can be placed on a ZENworks Middle Tier server and how a Middle Tier server configuration can be enhanced to provide even greater scalability and availability.
