On Novell NetWare 5.0/6.x there is no way to find out which JAVA (JVM.NLM)is running. There are no NetWare specified JAVA API which will help you determine the JAVA version.

SOLUTION: JDK1.1.7B has a "classes.zip" file in the JAVA/LIB directory. No other JAVA has "classes.zip" -- instead they have "rt.jat". Hence programatically there is a way to determine if a NetWare System is running JDK1.1.7 or above.

You can just type m (modules) java for the latest java version:

m java
