Heads Up -- there's a special offer for NetWare customers with current maintenance or upgrade protection. You're entitled to introduce SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and Novell Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 into your business environment-all under your existing NetWare licensing contract. (The NetWare/SUSE Linux promotion is a limited-time offer that expires when Novell Open Enterprise Server begins shipping at the end of the year. The promotion allows NetWare customers with current maintenance and upgrade protection to run NetWare and Linux in parallel. Usage is restricted to the same users, applications and workloads currently supported under your current NetWare contract.)
What does this mean for your IT infrastructure? First, it means you're already licensed to deploy a stable, reliable Linux platform running Novell services. It means you can use your existing Novell support agreement to receive support for both NetWare and Linux servers. And it means you can download SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 from www.novell.com/linux and start using them today.
In addition, by keeping your maintenance or upgrade protection active and up-to-date, you'll be able to move to Novell Open Enterprise Server when it begins shipping at the end of the year. With Novell Open Enterprise Server, we're combining the best of NetWare, SUSE Linux and networking services from Novell into a flexible and secure new enterprise platform.
The bottom line is that this is a fast, safe and cost-effective way for you to add new value to your IT environment. We offer the most advanced and proven Linux solutions in the industry-backed by an established service and support ecosystem. You're already licensed to run both NetWare and Linux. And this unique offer gives you ability to explore and implement Linux at your own pace.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE NETWARE?/SUSE? LINUX PROMOTION?
The promotion applies to all NetWare customers with active maintenance or upgrade protection. The terms of the promotion allow your NetWare customers to use SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and Nterprise? Linux Services 1.0 under their existing licensing agreements. However, these NetWare customers must continue to run SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 under the same applications, workloads and users as they are currently using with NetWare.
WHAT ABOUT NETWARE CUSTOMERS WHO DON'T CURRENTLY HAVE MAINTENANCE OR UPGRADE PROTECTION?
These customers cannot run SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and/or Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 under their existing licensing agreements. However, these customers can take full advantage of the promotion by becoming current and purchasing maintenance or upgrade protection.
WILL CUSTOMERS WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS PROMOTION BE COVERED UNDER THE NOVELL LINUX INDEMNIFICATION PROGRAM?
During the term of this promotion only, Novell will permit customers who otherwise qualify for the Novell Linux Indemnification Program to replace the current $50,000 SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 minimum purchase requirement with a requirement that all upgrade protection or maintenance fees paid for NetWare, SUSE Linux and Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 be credited toward achieving a higher amount of $100,000. Please visit www.novell.com/licensing/indemnity and request the special promotional addendum from the Novell contracts and negotiations team.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SUSE Linux ENTERPRISE SERVER 9 SHIPS LATER THIS YEAR?
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 is not part of the NetWare/SUSE Linux promotion. Current NetWare customers with active maintenance or upgrade protection will get SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 in Novell Open Enterprise Server when it ships at the end of the year. Please note that Novell Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 is not certified to run on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.
