Editor's Note: Here's a reader's update to a Cool Solutions article we published last year on Linux authentication for eDirectory.
***
I have some Linux boxes and NetWare boxes. The Linux boxes don't have Novell eDirectory installed on them. We would like to use LDAP to authenticate a Linux box but use the NetWare eDir information to authenticate the user.
To do this with a NetWare eDir, I used this article:
http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/nds/features/a_linux_auth_ldap_edir.html
to authenticate several RH8 machines against a Netware 6SP3 eDir 8.71 server. The article, however, is missing a small piece of information on configuration. I found the missing info in Ivan Pesin's Howto located at:
http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue93/pesin.html#4e
The part in section 4E talks about adding the LDAP attributes. It works like a champ!
