With the release of Consolidated Support Pack (CSP) 11, Novell made deploying Novell Small Business Suite a little easier. After buying your media, you can now download the Novell Small Business Suite 6.5 OS and Product Support Pack Overlay CDs for installing your operating system.
What this means is that rather than installing a new server and then immediately downloading and applying a Support pack to get the latest changes to the operating system and the base Novell services that are available with the operating system, you can use the Overlay CDs to do your installation. This gives you the latest version of the Novell Small Business Suite operating system and base services that are provided in the support packs. If you want to install the other products that are included in the suite, such as GroupWise, BorderManager, or ZENworks, you should use the media that came with your purchase to perform the installation and then download and apply the updates for these products.
After a CSP is released, we sometimes make additional patches for products to solve specific problems that customers might see. If needed, you can apply these patches immediately, or you can wait for the updates made through the Consolidated Support pack releases. The advantage of waiting for the CSP release is that these patches are tested with all the other products that are bundled in the CSP release, so you have a better chance that the patch will not disturb an existing product that you have installed.
To get updates for your operating system and base NetWare products after you install a Novell Small Business Suite 6.5 server, you need to download the NetWare 6.5 support packs included in the CSP releases or specific patches.
To learn about and download these releases, go to www.novell.com and select the Patches and Fixes link from the Support drop down list. From the Products Updates page, select the product category you want to check or select Consolidated Support Pack. From there you will see specific patches or listing for the Novell Small Business Suite 6.5 OS and Products Overlay CDs.
